London Rock Tour

London Rock Tours - Black Cab Tour

Widely recognised as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th Century Jimi Hendrix arrived in London when the swinging 60’s were in full swing. In just 4 years he left a legacy on the city unmatched by any of his contemporaries, a legacy that is as strong today as it was 50 years ago when tragically his life ended at just 27 years of age.

The Cross Town Traffic Tour is your 3 hour complete Hendrix extravaganza that will take you to 15 landmarks associated with the Godfather of Electric Guitar.

CROSS TOWN TRAFFIC TOUR - highlights include:

  • The Handel & Hendrix Museum - The Museum is located in the very flat in Mayfair where Hendrix used to live with his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham in the late 1960's. It has been painstakingly returned to the way it used to look on the day he left it over 50 years ago. Entrance to the museum is free to all Rock Cab tourists.
  • The Scotch of St. James - visit the west end club where it all began. Hear what happened on his first night in London when one short jam session changed the course of Rock history.
  • The Bag of Nails - venue for the legendary show case where a host of rock royalty including members of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Who witnessed Jimi’s incredible talent for the first time and realised what they were now up against.
  • 34 Montagu Square - Stand on the steps of Ringo Starr's former London apartment and hear how “The Wind Cried Mary” and the infamous drug trip that saw his illustrious tenants evicted.
  • Olympic Studios - now a cinema, cafe and restaurants, Olympic Studios gave birth to the Hendrix sound. This is where Hendrix recorded the bulk of his seminal debut album “Are You Experienced”. Hear all the stories, myths and anecdotes associated with this iconic album and how it became one of the most influential recordings in Rock History.
  • 22 Landsdowne Crescent - we finish the tour at the spot where Jimi breathed his last breath. The site of the former Sanmarkland Hotel will forever be etched into the hearts and minds of all Hendrix fans. We go back to September 1970 and relive the last fateful moments of his life with a day-by-day account of the events leading up to his sad demise.
